Celebrate July 17

I look forward to July 17th each and every year!  This is such a fun day to celebrate!!!  Here are just a few reasons to Celebrate today.
  • 1955 Disneyland Opens its doors for the first time!
  • National Peach Ice Cream Day
  • South Korea Constitution Day (1948)
My Pick of the Day is....... You've guessed it 1955 Disneyland Grand Opening

There are so many fun ways to celebrate this magical day!  To start out the day we have Mickey Mouse Pancakes (no special recipe needed)  Just make Micky (3 circles) creating a Mickey Mouse head.  I promise your kids won't care if its not exact!

For a treat we like to make Mickey Mouse Rice Krispy Treats (just like the ones they sell at Disneyland)  This is a fun activity to do together as a family.  If you don't have a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter, free hand it!  Make your own pattern with a piece of paper and go to town.  Again its the process that is fun!  Don't worry about perfection!
Let your kids pass treats out to friends and neighbors, sharing with them the knowledge they have about today's celebration!

As a family we have fun doing Disney crafts all day long!  This year the kids have made a HUGE jar to save their pennies and loose change to save for a family vacation to visit Disneyland.  This is a fun activity that not only gets kids excited about visiting the Happiest place on earth but, it teaches them the value of saving and patience.

Another fun activity is talking to your kids about what Disneyland was like in 1955.  It is so much fun to see how different Disneyland was back when it first opened its doors.  Have the kids make tickets (our favorite is the E ticket) let them make their own Retro Disneyland.  We brake out all the Disney Stuffed Animals and let the kids imagination do the rest!

Happy Birthday Disneyland!  We love you!  Thanks for the past 55 years and heres to 55 more!
